I began my
love for Great Danes in the early 1980's when I purchased my first merle
female. I had no idea of showing so color did not matter. She was out of
Meistersinger bloodlines and was a very nice pet. I then did some research
on the breed and decided I wanted a fawn male. I found a breeder, Donna
Wright in Indiana and bought him on the condition I would show him. We
attended match shows and I was bitten by the show bug. Deacon the big fawn
dog soon came down with OCD in both shoulders which I believe I caused
through over nutrition. He never made it in the ring again.
I then purchased a brindle bitch from Art and June Shafer in Indiana. She quickly finished her Championship thanks to Art's wonderful handling. I was asked to move in with the Shafers to help with their dogs and did for a brief period. What I learned from them was priceless from grooming to breeding. After I left the Shafers I had a few pet Danes and did not show until the 1990's. I bred my first litter then and have been seriously showing since. We have fawn, brindle, and have added harlequin and mantle to our passion. We breed first and foremost for healthy Danes. Cardiac being what I believe to be the # 1 problem right now. We then breed for temperament, soundness, and type. We like extreme heads and necks on our dogs. We have puppies occasionally and can refer to other good breeders in our area if we do not have one available. We support rescue and information is available on our adoptions page.
