Itís not easy to say goodbye to something that has been such a major part of oneís life for the last 15 years, but I have come to a crossroad with the magazine that forces me to make some very hard decisions. Itís no secret that we are all living in some very difficult financial times. We are seeing drastically reduced entries at shows, which definitely affects advertising capabilities for the mass majority of exhibitors. Dane World, not unlike many other print publications, has experienced a drastic drop in advertising support and subscription renewals over the last 12 Ė 18 months. With each issue, I held out hope that the next issue would have more support, but instead, advertising support has hit an all time low in the history of our existence. Over the past 12 months I have kept the magazine going through personal savings, retirement accounts and business loans to try to make up for the void from the drop in revenues, but at some point you have to say enough is enough; and enough was enough when we hit the $100,000 mark in accrued personal debt.
I have loved every minute that Iíve spent publishing Dane World, even with the memories of going days without sleep working on deadlines, the missed family gatherings, moving Christmas close to New Years many years Ö the list of sacrifices is long. I have gotten to know so many wonderful people, and the best part is that I feel that in some small way, Iíve been a part of your Daneís lives as well. Itís been my honor and privilege to follow them from their litterbox ad, through their show careers and finally the sweet memorial remembrance of their lives. I thank each and every one of you for these memories.
Even though this is the end of the print publication of Dane World, I am moving forward in a new direction with an exciting new online format, that will include the availability of an annual archive CD containing every ad featured through the year. DANE WORLD ONLINE will open on 1 September 2009 and will be formatted as a monthly online publication. The ads that will appear in the first online issue, will be the ads that were planned for the May/June/July/August 2009 Flip Issue. Advertising deadlines each month thereafter will be the 15th of the month. I have some very unique features planned that will offer great value for your advertising dollars and I will have categories for ALL Great Danes, from the wonderful family companion to the #1 Great Dane. Hopefully you will take some time after the 1st of September to visit the newly designed website and see all that we have to offer.

Even if you only had one issue remaining in your current subscription, I am giving you a coupon worth the full value of your subscription amount. Again, I thank you all for your support and dedication over the years and I hope you will continue to support Dane World Online. I donít really look at this as an ending Ö just a new chapter with a very hopeful beginning.
