Bob Heal from Canada, who I am sure everyone knows, judged our Breed at Crufts in March. He drew the most astounding entry of 280 dogs. There were 29 dogs entered in Open Dog, 12 of them were champions. The winner of this class was Yacanto Dancing Wolf and he went on to win the Challenge Certificate. He was bred by Mr. & Mrs. Bousfield and Miss Hirst. The Reserve Dog Challenge Certificate was Baadswood Proud Son who won the Post Graduate and Limit Class. He was bred by Mr. & Mrs. Betts and owned by Mrs. Campbell.

There were 20 bitches entered in Open Bitch, 8 of them were champions. The class was won by my Walkmyll Diorissimo. The Bitch Challenge Certificate was the winner of Special Yearling, Mohos Scarlet Serenade, bred and owned by Mrs. Debbie Arbery. She was also Best of Breed. The Reserve Bitch Challenge Certificate winner was the winner of Junior, Mrs. Avril Thorndyke’s Tyak Time Flies By Taranmur, bred by Mr. & Mrs. Callan. This was the largest entry I had ever known for Crufts, but unfortunately many of the dog exhibitors missed their classes as the M42 (one of the main approaches to the venue) was closed owning to an accident. The journey for ourselves would normally take about 40 minutes, but it took us 3 hours.

Tymonell Tradition
On the 11th of April I judged dogs for the Scottish Great Dane Club Championship Show. My Co-Judge was Mrs. Audrey Farquhar. In Minor Puppy Dog (6-9 months) I gave Mrs. Sheila Lakeland’s Tymonell Tradition this class and in Puppy Dog (9-12 months), I chose Mrs. Di Duncalf’s Dainwood Sakima. Mrs. Farquhar and myself both agreed Dainwood Sakima to be Best Puppy In Show.

My Dog Challenge Certificate winner came from the Limit Class, Mr. Lawrence Morgan-Evans brindle Clausentum Tyson At Vanmore. This was his first Challenge Certificate.
My Reserve Challenge Certificate winner won the Open Class and he was Mrs. Mulholland’s Garsak Sir Jordan, handled by his breeder, Mr. Gary Hooker.

Mrs. Audrey Farquhar’s Bitch Challenge Certificate winner won Post Graduate and she was Mrs. Jackie Wood’s Dainwood Wicked Sensation and her Reserve Challenge Certificate winner was Mrs. Joyce’s Turlum Top Notch.

I am afraid Audrey and I could not agree on Best In Show and we therefore had to call on the referee who was Mrs. Sue Pollock-Yule.

After much deliberating, Sue chose the brindle dog, Clausentum Tyson At Vanmore, as Best In Show.

Several of us Brits are hoping to get to the National Specialty in Texas in October. Hopefully see you all there.
